Building in the 21st Century

Sean Stack - Louka Fine FinishHi everyone,

IMG_0213

I hope that you are well and wherever you are you didn’t feel the effects too much from the tail-end of “Hurricane Bertha”.

Today, here in Shropshire, it is actually quite sunny – although it was a tad blowy last night, you really wouldn’t know it had even been raining this afternoon.

Why am I talking about the weather? Well, I usually do (being an outdoorsy kind of guy) but I have been busy working outside on an exciting but I am afraid, top-secret project which has meant that I have been out in the elements for quite a lot of the time.

This particular project a restoration one; taking a beautiful old building and giving it a new lease of life. I have been heavily involved with the client and the devil is certainly in the detail – our highly skilled craftsmen have been working tirelessly to re-instate some of the features of the building that have been lost or damaged over time.

Reclaimed-Iron-work-and-Oak-frameworkAs modern developments are going up at quite a rate, a lot of them are becoming faceless: the need for skilled traditional craftsmen is getting less and less.

It can be hard nowadays for an individual to find specialist tradesmen like a traditional thatcher, for example, or a company to carry out particular types of bespoke brick-work and/or repairs.

If you have a beautiful old property and would like to breathe some life into it, then please feel free to contact me for an initial chat. Our tradesmen and contacts cover a whole portfolio of skills so there is no reason why your building has to lose its design integrity to blend in with some of todays’ faceless properties.

And that, for today, is all I have to say: we have to remember to admire the beauty of our traditional buildings and appreciate the sheer skill that went into building them.

And we have to – where we can – try and keep them looking as good as they day that they went up.

Bespoke Kitchen Touches

Sean Stack - Louka Fine Finish

Hello everyone,

Once again I find myself starting out with a commentary on the weather but truly, it seems like this is a summer that just keeps on giving! Here we are, working on carpentry and building – projects both inside and out – in humidity that we are just not used to, but we are coping – just!

I though I would bring you a few pictures this week of some more finishing touches to a bespoke kitchen refurbishment that we have recently completed. Items like the bespoke oak butcher’s block and solid oak custom-made kitchen draining board really do help to give the kitchen a real high-end feel.

Like I said previously, refurbishing your kitchen with Louka Fine Finish could cost you a lot less than starting from scratch and replacing with mass-market kitchen units so why not contact me for a quotation?

Remember, everything we design is individual and designed with only the client in mind: whatever we craft and create for you will be unlike anything you will see anywhere else.

And that’s a promise.

Loft Conversion and Bespoke Wardrobes

Sean Stack - Louka Fine FinishHello everyone,

Once again, I find myself writing about the weather but hasn’t it been glorious? Once the thunderstorms had cleared, of course.

Well, I am delighted to bring you finished pictures of the loft conversion in Shropshire as well as an exclusive “hand shot by me” video tour of the finished room.

As you will know if you are a regular visitor to our website, or indeed, if you follow us on Twitter, we work with clients from design stage to craft and create high-end fitted furniture – as well as inside and outside buildings – to completely transform their living space.

This particular loft space transformation incorporates bespoke wardrobes, a lovely oak window-seat with storage and a luxury en-suite bathroom.

So, far from being an unloved attic, this room really is a room to be proud of; and one that will serve a purpose.

If you would like to find out how your house could be transformed then please do not hesitate to contact me on 07886880963 for an initial chat – you will be surprised at how cost-effective this sort of transformation work is when comparing it to, say, an extension.
